Kilmarnock to Cork: A Heartfelt Home Removal for the Ryan Family
In August 2025, the VK Removals and Storage team was proud to assist with a very special move—relocating the Ryan Family from Kilmarnock, Scotland to Little Island, Cork. After over 40 years living in England and Scotland, William and Mary Ryan made the heartfelt decision to return home to Ireland, and we were honoured to play a part in their journey.
An Early Start for a Long-Awaited Journey
The move began bright and early on Monday morning, with Vinnie and his youngest son Rónán setting off at 5:30 AM. The family’s belongings had been safely stored for several months with Thompson Removals in Kilmarnock, ready and waiting for their return home.
Following collection, the VK team travelled back to Ireland and arrived that same afternoon. However, a short delay meant the delivery couldn’t take place until the next morning—when everything was finally in place for a smooth unload.
Delivery Day in Little Island, Cork
At 10:00 AM, the team arrived at the Ryans' new home in Little Island to unload the contents of their life abroad. With everything directed to the appropriate rooms, the entire unloading process was completed by 12:30 PM, allowing the couple to begin their new chapter with everything in its place.
Our experienced customs documentation team had already handled the Transfer of Residence (TOR) paperwork in-house, ensuring that the move was seamless from start to finish.
A Warm Welcome and a Memorable Experience

This trip was especially memorable for young Rónán, who joined Vinnie for his first few nights sleeping in the truck. While he’s no stranger to helping on jobs, this was his first extended road experience—and he absolutely loved it. He proved himself a brilliant little helper and added an extra spark to the journey with his enthusiasm.
